Family Caregiver Support

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a self-care program for family caregivers that meets for one and a half hours once a week, for six weeks.  There is also a longer, two and a half hour version for those who are interested.  This program focuses on the family caregiver. It will help you take care of yourself while caring for an older relative, friend, someone who lives at home, in a nursing home, or across the country. This program will provide you with tools and strategies to better handle the unique caregiver challenges you face and help you to: 1) Reduce personal stress, 2) Communicate effectively with family members, doctors, and paid help, 3) Increase self-care practices, 4) Reduce guilt, anger, and depression, 5) Experience relaxation techniques, 6) Make tough decisions, and 7) Set goals and problem solve.
