Grants Pass Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Implementation Program Homepage

Program Summary

To meet the Rogue Basin TMDL requirements under the Clean Water Act, the City of Grants Pass is implementing a variety of management strategies to improve water quality to reduce or eliminate temperature and bacteria inputs to the Rogue River and its tributaries (e.g., Gilbert Creek, Sand Creek).  Strategies being implemented include riparian restoration to improve stream shade, managing urban runoff, community education and outreach, and  erosion prevention and sediment control.  Planned strategies are outlined in a plan that is approved by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and implemented over a 5-year period.  After 5-years, plans are revised and updated for another 5-year period until water quality standards are met.

Plan years run from July 1st through June 30th annually.  The first 5-year cylce ran from July 1st, 2010 through June 30th, 2015. Revised plans for the next 5 year implementation period (2015-2020) were submitted to DEQ for approval in June 2015.  Grants Pass began implementation of the new plan on July 1st, 2015.

  • Year 6/1- July 1st, 2015 through June 30th 2016 (Current Year).  Reports due on September 30th, 2016.  Draft Report.
  • Year 7/2- July 1st, 2016 through June 30th, 2016.
